Stormers' players and URC hailed for heart warming medal ceremony

The United Rugby Championship and Stormers' players have been hailed for the medal ceremony after the Cape-based side defeated the Bulls 18-13 in the competition's inaugural final.
The medal ceremony is often a dull affair with the medals usually handed out by an executive from the competition's organiser or sponsor.
However, there was a twist in Cape Town as local school kids were afforded the opportunity to hand out the medals to the players.
A step ladder was put in place for the kids to drape the medals over the heads of the Stormers' players.
However, some of the kids struggled with the ladders which lead to the players kneeling down for the kids to make it easier for them.

The scenes caught the attention of rugby fans on Twitter.
'Damn South Africans. Coming into our League, forcing us all to lift our game, showing us a masterclass in how to play, winning the whole thing and then being all-round superstars at the Medals bit. Can't wait for next season.' @KavanaghCk tweeted.
'Normally medal ceremonies are administrator-heavy yawn fests, but this is incredible.' wrote Derek Alberts.

After possibly not even being in the URC due to financial problems initially, the Stormers going on to win the whole tournament is a remarkable achievement. https://t.co/ruDULIV9ag
I don't know whose idea it was to get kids to award the medals yesterday but give them massive raise, please. https://t.co/4RokpYtUTn

There was a particularly special moment for one of the kids as Stormers and Springbok lock Marvin Orie gifted his scrum cap to him after receiving his winners' medal.
The attempt to light up something inside the young people of Cape Town is one of my biggest dreams 🔥 . I had a few such moments as a kid. I hope this is one of many for this boy and many others to come. Cape Town, stand up! https://t.co/zjwHQgN52Q
