Stats and facts: Wales v Argentina
- 1890
Wales continue their Autumn Nations Series campaign on Saturday when they tackle Argentina at the Principality Stadium.
The game comes just seven days after a 55-23 defeat against New Zealand – the most points ever conceded by Wales in Cardiff.
Here are a few stats and facts ahead of the clash.
1. Overall, Wales and Argentina have played each other on 20 occasions. Wales have won 13 matches, whilst Argentina have won six matches. There has also been one draw between the two sides.
2. Wales head coach Pivac has been in charge for 31 Tests, winning 12 of those, drawing one and losing 18 since succeeding Warren Gatland.
3. Wales have won only two of nine games against major southern hemisphere opposition, while their overall Six Nations success-rate under Pivac is just 40 per cent.
4. Los Pumas have beaten Scotland, Australia, New Zealand and England since Cheika took over in March.
5. Argentina had initially named an unchanged squad following their 30-29 win over England for the first time since 2006. But captain and hooker Julian Montoya was a late withdrawal with number eight Pablo Matera taking over the captaincy
6. Los Pumas claimed a first victory against England at Twickenham since 2006, and only their second-ever, to add another notch in a fine 2022 for Michael Cheika’s side.
7. Los Pumas ran out 33-11 winners when the two teams met in Cardiff last July, with a 20-20 draw the week before that, though Wales have won 13 of their 18 previous encounters.
