STAT ATTACK: Unstoppable Gavin Coombes, Warrick Gelant magic & more

Scarlets v Munster

• Gavin Coombes scored two tries, made the second-most carries (17), most dominant carries (seven), and most post-contact metres (26) in Round 10.
• All three of Coombes, Tom Ahern, and Antoine Frisch made three dominant tackles at the weekend; no player made more.
• Munster have made a league-high average of 127.3 carries per 80 minutes this season. At the weekend, they made 166.

Zebre Parma v Edinburgh

• Viliame Mata made more carries than any other player in Round 10, a total of 19.
• Edinburgh scored two maul tries against Zebre Parma and made more maul metres than any other team in Round 10 (34).
• 60% of Zebre Parma’s carries came outside the 15-metre lines against Edinburgh – a higher percentage than any other team in Round 10.
• Zebre made fewer entries to the opposition 22 than any other team in Round 10, just three in total. However, their average points per entry was a round-high 6.3.
• Zebre attempted more penalty goals against Edinburgh than they have in a match all season, a total of six.

Emirates Lions v Vodacom Bulls

• The Lions made fewer carries than any other team in Round 10 (67). This is the fewest carries they’ve made in any fixture so far this season.
• Vodacom Bulls made more kicking metres than any other team at the weekend, a total of 876.
• The Bulls won the joint-most turnovers in Round 10 (eight). Three were in the tackle and another was a one-on-one strip.
• The Lions have scored an average of 3.3 tries per 80 minutes this season (4th in the URC). This was the first time they’ve been limited to one try in a match since Round 3.
• The Bulls have scored more tries (47) and more points (349) than any other team this season.

Leinster v Benetton

• Five of Ross Byrne’s nine kicks in play were retained against Benetton – more than any other player in Round 10.
• Benetton’s carry dominance was 33.9% against Leinster – higher than any other team in Round 10.
• Leinster scored more tries (seven) and points (47) than any other team in Round 10.
• 15.8% of Leinster’s carries ended with passes at the weekend – the second-highest percentage in Round 10. They haven’t moved the ball as often since Round 5.

Hollywoodbets Sharks v DHL Stormers

• Ben Loader made a total of five clean breaks at the weekend – as many as any other player.
• Ruben van Heerden made more successful tackles in Round 10 than any other player, a total of 25. This was only two shy of the record so far this season and van Heerden has now made the most successful tackles in URC 3 (135).
• Jaden Hendrikse made more contestable kicks than any other player in Round 10 (six), two of which were retained. Teammate Aphelele Fassi also made three contestable kicks.
• Warrick Gelant was one of two players at the weekend to assist two tries; no player assisted more.
• Hollywoodbets Sharks beat 24 defenders in Round 10 – the second-highest total of the weekend.

Cardiff Rugby v Connacht

• Thomas Young became the first player this season to win five turnovers in a match at the weekend.
• Cardiff made just 167 carry metres in Round 10. This is the fifth-lowest total of the season and Cardiff’s lowest total of the season so far.
• Liam Belcher made more defensive ruck entries than any other player in Round 10 (16). He was also a nuisance in the most defensive rucks (six).
• Connacht spent more than double the amount of time in Cardiff’s 22 than vice-versa (4:48 to 2:19). However, they scored an average of just 0.8 points per entry to Cardiff’s 2.0.

Glasgow Warriors v Dragons

• Josh McKay and Facundo Cordero were the only two players to make over 100 carry metres in Round 10: 140 and 118 respectively.
• Between them, Cordero, Stafford McDowall, and Jamie Dobie made a total of 13 clean breaks against the Dragons.
• Glasgow Warriors won four scrum penalties at the weekend – more than any other team.
• The Dragons didn’t make a single clean break in Round 10 and beat six defenders. In contrast, Glasgow Warriors made 25 clean breaks and beat 39 defenders.

Ospreys v Ulster

• Dan Edwards scored 14 of the Ospreys’ 19 points at the weekend, making him the top point-scorer of Round 10.
• Ulster didn’t make a single clean break against the Ospreys. This was the first match this season that they didn’t make a clean break.
• Ulster won fewer turnovers than any other team in Round 10 (two).
• The Ospreys made 110 more carry metres than Ulster at the weekend, a total of 293.
