Springbok Player Ratings

The Springboks overcame England at the Allianz Stadium in London, here are our Springbok player ratings.

15 – Aphelele Fassi

6 – The fullback was tested a lot under the high ball with England kicking the ball 31 times. He failed to secure the ball a couple times which proved to be costly for South Africa.

14 – Cheslin Kolbe

9- A man-of-the-match performance from the 31-year-old. All round great play, great decision-making and scored a wonderful try.

13 – Jesse Kriel

6 – Kriel did not offer much today and was hardly noticeable in the game. Solid on defence though with 89% tackle success rate.

12 – Damian de Allende

6.5 – The better one of the centre pair but was also not very involved in the game as much.

11 – Kurt-Lee Arendse

6 – A quiet day at the office for the Bulls winger, could’ve gotten a higher rating but unfortunately a forward pass caused his try to be disallowed.

10 – Manie Libbok

7 – Libbok offers great offensive play, but his kicking still needs a lot of work. In big games kicking is important and those missed points might come back to haunt you.

9 – Grant Williams

9 – Williams may have had his best performance in the Springbok jersey today thus far. He scored a brilliant try and distributed the ball quickly and efficiently. His kicks from hand were great too.

8 – Jasper Wiese

6 -  The powerful loose forward had an okay outing and did all the basics right.

7 – Pieter-Steph du Toit

8 – The flanker worked hard as usual and scored a great try too from two charge downs.

6 – Siya Kolisi

7 – The skipper led his team to yet another victory today, making it 2 for 2.

5 – RG Snyman

7 – The lock pairing between him and Etzebeth was a powerful one executing the basics perfectly. Good lineouts, good cleanouts, and good tackling.

4 – Eben Etzebeth

7.5 – The most capped Springbok player currently contributed massively to his teams victory creating scoring opportunities by putting the opposition under constant pressure.

3 – Wilco Louw

7 – Louw had a good return to Test rugby, winning his team penalties from the scrum.

2 – Bongi Mbonambi

6.5 – The hooker did his job well with good throws at the lineout.

1 - Ox Nche

5.5 – Unfortunately Ox had to be taken off early due to injury but he had a good few minutes on the pitch.
