Sir Gordon Tietjens named Samoa 7s coach

Tietjens, who bought unprecedented success during his 22-year span as coach of New Zealand, was linked with the Kenya Sevens side but chose to accept the vacant position in charge of Samoa.
Tietjens won four Commonwealth Games titles, two IRB Sevens World Championship titles (2001 in Argentina and 2013 in Russia) and 12 of the 17 World Series crowns during his tenure with New Zealand.
He stepped down from the role of his side's disappointing campaign at the Rio Olympic Games.
Samoa Sevens have always represented their country with pride, passion and a great natural talent in rugby and I am massively motivated to help them achieve their goal to be a consistent top performer on the world stage," he said.
"I have some commitments I need to complete before making the transition to Samoa, but this will be a great opportunity to watch some local rugby."
