Should this have been a red card? Rory Arnold yellow carded for tip tackle on Simon Zebo
- 1747
Toulouse lock Rory Arnold was yellow carded for this tackle on Simon Zebo during the Champions Cup clash between Munster and Toulouse at Aviva Stadium on Saturday.
Referee Luke Pearce and his officiating team deemed that Zebo landed on his back first rather than his head.
Therefore, he dropped the card from a potential red to a yellow, do you agree?

HOW TWITTER REACTED:
That’s a tip-tackle red. Force, driving, head/upper body contact. That’s weak refereeing.

I must be getting old, I thought that tackle on Zebo was fine? Kept hold of him & put him down? #MUNvTOU

The tackler had absolutely no control over whether Zebo landed on his head or back there as a result of being tipped. So it seems strange that he escapes more severe punishment based on the very marginal outcome. #MUNvTOU

If rugby and its laws dictate that tackle on Zebo to only be a yellow, then it still has a long way to go.

All the science tells is that a whiplash action like that can be just as dangerous as a direct blow to the head.
A tackle like that can’t be anything but a red #MunVTou
No need for Arnold do to that.

Absolutely pointless.
