Sexton resumes contact training, Connors' season is over

Leinster have confirmed that Ireland captain Johnny Sexton has returned to contact training as he continues his recovery from a head injury.

Sexton has been sidelined since failing a Head Injury Assessment against Exeter Chiefs in the Champions Cup quarter-final in April.

In an injury update released on Monday, Leinster said that the flyhalf “will continue to develop contact in training and will also require further assessment.”

Meanwhile, flanker Will Connors will miss the remainder of the season after undergoing surgery on a knee issue having last played for the province against Munster in January.

Jimmy O’Brien and Caelan Doris came through the Round 3 clash with Ulster Rugby with no issues and will continue training as normal, the Province confirmed.

While scrum-half Jamison Gibson-Park (hamstring) will return to training this week and will be further assessed throughout the week.

Thomas Clarkson (hamstring), Ciarán Frawley (shoulder), Rhys Ruddock (calf), Harry Byrne (hamstring), Jack Dunne (ankle), Dan Leavy (knee), Adam Byrne (hamstring), Conor O’Brien (knee) and Max Deegan (knee) are all still unavailable for selection.

Leinster play Glashow Warriors away in the Rainbow Cup Round 4 tie on Friday.
