Richard Cockerill to join England coaching staff - report
- 2001
Former Edinburgh head coach Richard Cockerill is reportedly set to join a revamped England coaching team.
According to the Daily Mail, his appointment could be confirmed next week, with the former international hooker having already held talks with Eddie Jones following his recent departure from Edinburgh.
The Daily Mail's sources indicate that the 50-year-old was keen to join the England set-up if an offer was forthcoming and now it is understood that a deal is close to being finalised.
Cockerill's remit could be to oversee the lineout and contact work of Jones' team, and he will work closely alongside forwards coach Matt Proudfoot.
The appointment is set to follow confirmation that Martin Gleeson is to take charge of the attack, and also comes on the back of the sudden departure of Jones's senior assistant John Mitchell, who has taken up a role at Wasps.
