Rhys Webb quits Welsh rugby for big money move overseas

Rhys Webb is set to turn his back on a contract extension with Ospreys at the end of the season to take up a big money move overseas according to Wales Online.

The Wales international scrum-half is understood to be joining Toulon in the French domestic top-tier.

Webb, a tourist with the British & Irish Lions in the summer to New Zealand, will soon end months of speculation relating to his future after numerous reports initially linked him with a switch to Saracens.

The money on offer in the Cote d'Azur is a strong pulling factor for the proposed transfer. Reports during the week in the French publication 'Midi Olympique' insisted that the deal will take place and there is a high possibility that Webb will have to cut ties with his international career.

The Ospreys scrum half is turning 29 in December and his next contract is his final opportunity to maximise his career earnings.

Toulon are already spoiled for choice in the No. 9 shirt as they boast Sebastien Tillous-Borde, Eric Escande and Anthony Méric among their half-backs.
