Wales and Ospreys scrumhalf Rhys Webb will be out for in excess of two months after undergoing surgery on the injury he picked up on Ospreys duty.
The 32-year-old shared an image of himself in hospital on social media today after he damaged the area around his collar bone and rib cage in the Guinness PRO14 clash with the Dragons a week last Saturday.
It’s a serious blow to his chances of featuring in the Lions’ series with South Africa this summer.
“Rhys has an operation today which will take him out of action for a couple of months,” said Ospreys coach Toby Booth.
“That’s really disappointing for him at a critical time for us and a critical time for him.
“The problem is where his collar bone meets his ribs.
“It’s an injury that you see with Formula 1 drivers, or jockeys when they fall off their horses.”
