Pro 14 Preview - Cardiff Blues v Connacht
- 957
The penultimate game of the round has Connacht travelling to Rodney Parade where Cardiff Blues lie in wait after both outfits managed victory in Round 1 against Glasgow and Zebre respectively.
Cardiff, well-favoured before the match, proved too much for their Italian rivals in the end with a full-time score of 16-6.
Connacht took some time to find their feet in their opener against Glasgow, taking the lead for the first time in the 58th minute when Quinn Roux powered over for their second try. The final quarter shaped up to be a humdinger as Glasgow drew level again just a few minutes after Roux’s score. Connacht answered with a penalty followed by a second try from Bundee Aki, capping off a superb bit of attacking play. Glasgow ran in one more try to stay in the hunt but another Connacht penalty sealed it for the men in green.
The last clash between these two outfits ended with Cardiff being on the receiving end of a hiding after Connacht built a score of 29 unanswered points at The Sportsground in Round 11 of the 2019-20 tournament.
This time, however, Cardiff will enjoy the familiarity of their home turf when they take on Jarrad Butler and co., and will work to post a more favourable result than last time.
