With the 2019/20 Premiership season set to resume at some date beyond July 1, Bristol Bears are set to benefit the most with Kyle Sinckler and Semi Radradra's contract dates set to start by then making them available to Pat Lam.
In a major boost to Bristol Bears' Premiership title aspirations, Director of Rugby Pat Lam has revealed that their three marquee summer signings Semi Radradra, Kyle Sinckler and Mitch Eadie can play this season, providing it runs beyond July 1.
That means flying Fijian back Radradra, England prop Sinckler and backrower Eadie will be able to don Bears shirts, despite having represented Bordeaux Begles, Harlequins and Northampton, respectively, this campaign.
The Top 14 has already called off their season with Bordeaux unlikely to play any other games this season, Radradra will join the squad. Premiership Rugby are yet to confirm the rule, which was first suggested by Gloucester CEO Lance Bradley in March, but with contracts expiring on June 30, the league doesn't appear to be standing in the way of players representing their new clubs.
Ben Earl and Max Malins are set to join the club on loan but those deals are to only start in August. Speaking to BT Sport, Lam said: "At this stage we have Semi Radradra, Kyle Sinckler and Mitch Eadie from Northampton all starting for us on the 1st of July. They will be available when the [2019/20] season kick-starts
"Ben Earl and Max Malins, we have loaned them from August onwards, so if the season doesn’t start until then, then they will join us, if it has started before then we will have to have a conversation with Saracens.
