NPC round-up: Round 3
- 1966
Canterbury snuck past Waikato on Friday night to get Round 3 of the NPC underway. Just one point separated the teams at the final whistle as Canterbury were declared winners by 20-19.
Wellington’s discipline let them down as Taranaki slotted five penalties in addition to their 3 tries for a final score of 32 while the former could only manage 26.
Tasman Mako were in great attacking form against Northland as they ran in a total of eight tries. Northland put up a good fight to notch up five tries of their own but, ultimately, the visitors were too strong.
The round finished off with Hawke’s Bay celebrating a narrow, three-point victory over Bay of Plenty on the former’s home turf.
