The Springboks have been dealt a further injury blow with Frans Steyn and Bismarck du Plessis being ruled out of the June Test series against England.
Both players have been withdrawn from the Springbok squad having picked up injuries during the Top14 final against Castres last weekend.
Both went for further investigations and specialist opinions and it was decided to rather withdraw them from the Springbok squad for to face England.
South Africa's depth will now be tested especially at hooker with Adriaan Strauss deciding not to come out of retirement, while Malcolm Marx sustained a long-term knee injury during Super Rugby.
The pair would have added a combined 135 test caps of experience to the squad.
