Mitre 10 Highlights: Otago Vs Bay of Plenty

Otago held on for a 27-20 victory over Bay of Plenty in the first Mitre 10 Cup Championship semi-final. Otago scored two first half tries while Bay of plenty kicked two penalties as Otago led 14-6 at the break. Otago crossed for their third try shortly into the second half, but Bay of Plenty responded with their first to trail 21-13. Two penalties for Otago extended the lead to 27-13 with under ten minutes to play. Bay of Plenty fought to the bitter end, running in another try with four minutes left on the clock to cut the gap to seven points, setting up a tense finish. However, Otago managed to grind out the remaining minutes to secure the win and set up a home final clash with the winner between Wellington and North Harbour.
