Matias Alemanno commits future to Gloucester

Gloucester Rugby are excited to announce that Argentinian international, Matias Alemanno, has signed a new deal at Kingsholm.
Since joining Gloucester from the Jaguares in 2020, Alemanno has consistently been a standout performer in Cherry & White over his 67 appearances.
A hard-hitting and strong-carrying second row, Alemanno has certainly bolstered the physicality of the Gloucester pack, as well as being a crucial part of the Cherry & Whites set-piece.
Alemanno’s importance to the Club was recognised last season when he was awarded the Sid Smart Award by the coaching staff.
In addition to his impressive performances in a Gloucester jersey, he’s been a mainstay in the Argentina squad since his try-scoring debut against Uruguay in 2014.
He’s been to three Rugby World Cups with Los Pumas and is rapidly approaching his 100th cap. Alemanno is currently away with his national side, preparing for their test series against France.
Director of Rugby, George Skivington, is happy to have retained Alemanno’s services.
“Anyone who’s made nearly 100 appearances for their national side is clearly an exceptional player.
“Mati is a very humble, hard-working rugby player and a big leader too. He’s settled here in Gloucestershire with his family and become an important part of this team.
“A player of Mati’s calibre is always going to have other options available to him, so we’re delighted that he’s committed his future to Gloucester Rugby.”
Alemanno added:
“I am very happy to extend my time in this special place, which has become home for me and my family,
“I love the team and the people at this Club, wearing the famous Cherry & White jersey and running out in front of our amazing fans at Kingsholm.
“I can't wait for the future and to see what we can achieve as a team.”
