Georgia are regular winners at the European Championships: Richard Cockerill's charges are the most titled team, and have won gold medals on 15 occasions (the most ever). The Georgian athletes have set themselves the goal of winning the tournament once again, and the team played the first round as well as possible: the national team had no big problems in the away clash with Germany and defeated their opponent with a difference of 11 points (28-17).

 

The Netherlands were very close to a sensation against Spain in the first round, with a win for Lyn Jones' men at 8.40, but the team played so well that they were defeated by only two points (18-20). The second half is worth a special mention: the coaching staff had a fruitful conversation with their charges during the break, and in a separate second half, the Netherlands crushed their opponent 12-0.
