Marcus Garratt forced to retire

Wasps can today confirm that lock Marcus Garratt has been forced to retire from professional rugby on medical grounds.

Unfortunately, the 6ft 6in second-row has failed to recover from a knee injury suffered in May 2018.

Garratt, who made nine first-team appearances for Wasps, said: “It’s been massively frustrating not being able to play and it’s been a really tough time for me over the past 17 months.

“I’d like to say a special thanks to those who have supported me throughout this time. I’ve made some lifelong friends and wish the Club the best for the future.”

Wasps Director of Rugby Dai Young said: “It’s really disappointing that Marcus hasn’t been able to fulfil his potential despite giving it everything he can to try and get back out on the field.
“It’s always sad and very frustrating for a player to have to call time on their career but we’d like to thank Marcus for his efforts during his time at the Club and wish him all the best moving forward.”
