Malcolm Marx dominates as Lions progress to semis
- 2916
The Lions progressed to the Super Rugby semi-finals for the third year in the row after they defeated the Jaguares in Johannesburg.
Malcolm Marx
It's easy to see why Marx has been labeled the best hooker in world rugby in recent months.
The 24-year-old hooker made all 8 tackles of his tackles against the Jaguares and made 58 metres from his 4 carries.
He was a menace at the breakdown again making 4 clean turnovers and forced multiple turnovers.
Elton Jantjies
Jantjies set up the Lions first try with a well-weighted kick to draw level with Kurtley Beale, who overtook the Lions flyhalf in first place earlier in the day, for the most try assists in Super Rugby season.
He controlled the Lions attack well throughout the game and finished with 100% kicking success from the tee.
He also made all of his attempted shots at goal and slotted a drop goal.
Elton Jantjies is only the second player to successfully convert a drop goal this #SuperRugby season 🦁 #LIOvJAG @LionsRugbyCo 37-23 @JaguaresARG after 67 minutes

Pablo Matera
Another strong performance by Matera even though his side was unable to progress to the semi-finals for the first time.
He hit double figures in both the tackle and carries stats and topped the former with 15 carries.
He also ran a great line to score a try at a crucial time for his side.
Kwagga Smith
The lively flanker did more of the grunt work in this game.
He made 16 tackles, a tally only bettered by fellow teammate Franco Mostert.
We won one turnover at ruck time and forced the Jaguares into a number of penalties.
