Leicester Tigers set to hold onto England ace

George Ford is set to agree a new deal with struggling Leicester Tigers according to The Daily Mail .

The paper reports that talks are ongoing with both he and the struggling Premiership club hopeful of an agreement before the end of the year which could see his salary rise to £600,000.

Ford is one of a number of big-name Tigers out of contract at the end of the season, alongside World Cup stars Jonny May, Ben Youngs, Dan Cole and Ellis Genge.

Youngs is reportedly being chased by Northampton Saints, who could lose star scrumhalf Cobus Reinach to Top 14 giants Montpellier.

Sportsmail understands re-signing, if all runs smoothly and it is finalised, should see Ford increase his yearly earnings by £50,000.

Speaking to the BBC, Head coach Geordan Murphy said that he is "hopeful" Leicester Tigers' can keep their in-demand England stars at the club despite interest in them intensifying.

"Every week a different one of our player is linked with another team," Murphy told BBC East Midlands Today.
