Knee injury forces Ian Evans to retire

Bristol and Wales lock Ian Evans is set to retire on medical advice following knee problems.

"Fish has taken the decision to step back from playing,"said interim head coach Mark Tainton.

"The welfare of our players is of utmost importance and we support Jon's decision."

The 32-year-old former Ospreys forward won 33 caps for Wales and also represented the British and Irish Lions on the 2013 tour of Australia.

He played 29 times for Bristol after joining them from Ospreys in 2014.
