URC SEMI-FINAL: BULLS VS LEINSTER

What a game of high-octane rugby! The Bulls and Leinster both put in a momentus effort to try and secure the win, but it was the Bulls who booked their place in the URC Final with a 25-20 win over Leinster.

There were multiple momentum shifts, which can affect a result so much. Let's take a look at some of the Key Moments in this game:

Sergeal Petersen Yellow Card

Leinster were attacking Bulls' 22m and Petersen committed a deliberate knock-on to get himself a yellow card and a penalty to Leinster. This led to a Leinster maul and then a try for James Lowe two phases later. The Bulls were punished for their error and it gave Leinster the lead. 0-7

Willie Le Roux 50/22

This was a definite momentum swinger and a key moment in this game. The Bulls were trailing at this point and Willie Le Roux caught Gibson-Park sleeping in backfield and found space in behind him for a 50/22. This led directly to a Bulls try! Goosen ran a beautiful line and dove in for a try, untouched. This tied the game up again, while the Bulls ran the clock down for the yellow card. 7-7

A huge scrum from the Bulls gave them the lead right before half time. Crucial points at that stage of the game. Halftime: 10-7

Sergeal Petersen Try!

A great set-piece move that came back to the blind-side, quick hands, a grubber kick and a huge chase from Petersen to score. This was right at the start of the second half. Goosen added the extras and put the Bulls 17-7 ahead.

Leinster Tap-and-Go Try

A guaranteed gainline play from 5m out put Leinster within three points again. 17-14

Sergeal Petersen Brace - Game Changing Moment

This was the match-winner. And it came out of nowhere. With the scores tied at 20-20, after penalties from both sides, Embrose Papier hoisted up a box kick just outside Leinster's 22m to gain territory. Sergeal Petersen had other ideas: He plucked it out the air and ran 20 metres to score for the Bulls and ultimately win them the game. Excellent work from the winger. He is now the only player to go to the Grand Final with two diffrent teams (Stormers 2022, Bulls 2024). 25-20

Bulls Defence

The final Key moment was the Bulls' defence in the last five minutes. What a mammoth effort from the men in Blue. They ended a 22-phase Leinster attack with a monster double-tackle, followed by a successful counter-ruck. With 6 minutes left in the game, it was the telling effort to hold Leinster out and eventually secure the win.
