Jonah Placid signs for Toulon

Toulon have today confirmed the signing of Melbourne Rebels' versatile back Jonah Placid.

The 22-year-old played for Australia U20s last season and made his Super Rugby debut with the Reds during the 2014 season.

Placid is adapet across the backline but has featured predominantly at full-back and could be a replacement for Wales and Lions star Leigh Halfpenny, who left Toulon at the end of last season.

He has signed a two-year contract with the French heavyweights.
