Harlequins has announced that iconic prop Joe Marler has signed a new deal with the Club.
A homegrown Harlequins Academy product, since making his debut during the 2009/10 season, the 32-year-old has gone on to play for England and the British and Irish Lions and become a globally recognised figure within the sport.
Earning over 250 appearances in the Famous Quarters to date, Marler has become one of the most iconic Harlequins of the modern era.
Since emerging from the Club’s Academy, Marler has gone on to become one of the most physical props in the game, both around the park and at scrum time.
A cornerstone of Quins’ set-piece, Marler has been key to the Club’s title-winning campaigns, lifting the Gallagher Premiership trophy in 2012 and 2021, as well as the 2011 Challenge Cup.
Commenting on his new deal, Marler said: “I love this club. I love the fans and I love pulling on this jersey. I feel honoured and privileged to have been able to do that for so long and hopefully be able to retire from the game at this wonderful club where it all started for me. The biggest thing for me, I think, is how grateful I am to the Club as a whole. The various managements that have come and gone, the players and fans that have allowed me to express myself, be who I want to be and have stood by me even when I’ve not been on my best behaviour. “I’m really looking forward to spending the remainder of my career at the club where it all started.”
