Jamie Joesph lands Barbarians role
- 1986
Fresh from his success with the Highlanders, head coach Jamie Joseph is set to charge of the Barbarians when they face Samoa later this year.
Joseph guided the Highlanders to a Super Rugby title in their first final since 1999 earlier this year.
Now he will be in charge of the Barbarians when they face the Samoans at London’s newly refurbished Olympic Stadium on August 29.
"It’s a privilege to take charge of the Barbarians, who are known the world over for bringing great players together to play entertaining rugby," said Joseph.
"They have achieved an incredible amount in their 125-year history and to be the first rugby team to play at such a famous stadium makes it even more special.
"It should be a great game to watch, particularly as Samoa will be really determined to show what they can do as they prepare for their Rugby World Cup games.”
Joseph will be assisted on his coaching staff by former New Zealand fly-half Carlos Spencer.
