James Simpson-Daniel's retirement highlights fact that rugby's finest need more rest and less play

It was emotional at
Gloucester last Saturday as James Simpson-Daniel bade farewell to
the game and his beloved Kingsholm after being forced to retire through
injury.
At one point indeed it was a little too emotional for Simpson-Daniel as he had
to pause during his speech at half-time.
And it was all very moving, not
least because Simpson-Daniel is so respected – he is one of the finest
players I have seen in the Premiership – and also so ill‑rewarded with Test
caps (just 10).
He is 32 years old so is not young but he is not old,
either.
