Huw Jones happy with five points

Glasgow Warriors centre Huw Jones was happy to “take the five points” after admitting dissatisfaction with his side’s performance in their 26-19 home win over USAP in Round 2 of the EPCR Challenge Cup.
The victory – their second win in a row in the competition after their 22-19 success at Bath Rugby in Round 1 – and the try bonus point left the Scottish team only a point adrift of top spot in Pool A in fifth place, but Jones was not totally satisfied.
“A five-point win and a bonus point win is great,” he commented. “We will take the result and move on in the competition.
“We definitely didn’t get everything right. We ground it out and it was ugly, but we will take the five points.”

Freezing temperatures made Scotstoun Stadium in Glasgow unplayable, so the game was moved to BT Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh, which has undersoil heating.
“I don’t think any of us players will fully understand what goes on behind the scenes, but we are very grateful that the game went ahead,” Jones said.
“We saw the pitch at Scotstoun; it was fully frozen and definitely unplayable. Huge props to everyone who was involved to make that happen. We are very thankful.”
The Scottish international was also encouraged by how many Warriors supporters were able to make the trip to BT Murrayfield Stadium, despite the weather.
“It was so great to have support as well,” he said. “We understand that with the last-minute change and with the weather, many fans couldn’t make it. But we really appreciate the support all the time and those who were able to make it along.
“We know that Scotstoun would have been bouncing and to have that support at Murrayfield is amazing. We can hear it on the pitch and it really lifted us during the game.”
