Hodgson's Boot Extends The Falcons Unbeaten Streak
- 1242
It was a muddy game filled with plenty of errors. However, the Newcastle Falcons did well to play the conditions well into their favour. Together with Joel Hodgson's astute technical skills, the home side did well to keep Bath scoreless for most of the game. Micky Young completed an overall excellent performance by the half backs who did well to slot back into the side having been left out in previous games. Sinoti Sinoti also did well to continue his great form of late.
The pick of the top performers for this week were completed by Simon Hammersley and Glen Young.
Joel Hodgson - Newcastle Falcons
The 26-year-old utility half back has shown some real growth with each passing minute of the season. This time he managed to control the game well together with his half back pairing, Micky Young. This ensured 75% possession for the home side and with good front foot ball, Hodgson made sure that he gets his side in good territory.
Micky Young - Newcastle Falcons
Together with his halfback, Young was a real cog in the wheel for his side tonight. The Hartlepool born star was instrumental in guaranteeing his side victory today. Not only did he do well with his kicks off the base, but he also brought his forwards well into the game in pressure situations. He capped his night with a well worked try in the 18th minute. His maturity enabled him to link up with Alex Tait following some clever interplay.
Simon Hammersley - Newcastle Falcons
With barely any running opportunities because of the horrible conditions, Hammersley did what he could with the little that he had. A highlight in the game was just after half time when the Falcons fullback ran a great line near the Bath try line. He went over untouched securing the Falcons victory.
Glen Young - Newcastle Falcons
Slightly over 2m, the ex-Scotland U20 International made his presence felt at lineout time tonight. He managed to pluck two of the opposition lineouts. His carries off first phase ball also proved quite useful in the important parts of the field.
