Ulster made it four wins from four in the Champions Cup with a 34-31 home victory over Clermont. Ulster struck first with a try eight minutes in to lead 5-0. Clermont then kicked two penalties to edge ahead 6-5.
Ulster went over for try number two to regain the lead 10-6. The boot of Clermont saw them add two more penalties to get their noses in front 12-10. Clermont picked up a yellow card just before the break, with Ulster capitalizing with their third try to take a 17-12 lead into halftime after a sea-saw opening forty.
Ulster added an early second half penalty and scored the bonus point fourth try with around half an hour remaining to open up a 27-12 lead. Ulster looked to have wrapped up the match with a fifth try after 66 minutes pusing their advantage out to 34-12.
A ferocious Clermont fight back followed with the visitors running in three tries in the final 11 minutes, but they would ultimately fall three points short as Ulster claimed second spot in pool A.
