The Waratahs snapped a 40 game losing streak for Australian sides against New Zealand opposition as they thrashed the 14 man Highlanders 41-12 in round 14 of Super Rugby. The Waratahs opened the scoring with an early penalty and try to lead 8-0. The Highlanders then picked up a red card and a yellow card soon after to be reduced to 13 players. The Waratahs capitalized to run in another score to take a 15-0 advantage into the break. Two second half tries for the Waratahs, with a reply each time by the Highlanders saw the hosts lead 29-12 heading into the final quarter. The Waratahs would cross for a further two tries as the Highlanders ran out of steam to seal an emphatic victory.
