Harlequins set new World Record at Big Game 16

Harlequins are proud to announce that the Club’s Women’s team have broken the World Record for attendance at a Women’s club rugby match for a fourth consecutive year at Big Game, as a crowd of 18,055 were treated to a 42-17 Quins victory at Allianz Stadium.

Using high resolution 360 imagery from the event and specialist software to tag and count the number of supporters sat watching the game, Harlequins partnered with locally based Photography company Panoramic Imaging with their CrowdCam systems to confirm today’s attendance.

Fans witnessed a thrilling encounter in The PWR, as Quins ran in an impressive eight tries against Leicester Tigers, with two second-half scores from World Player of the Year, Ellie Kildunne.

Harlequins have broken attendance records at every Big Game the women’s team have been a part of, setting their first record at Big Game 13 before breaking it consecutively in the years following. This year’s record adds over 1,800 supporters to their 16,238 total at Big Game 15.

Harlequins Women’s Head Coach Ross Chisholm said: “We are immensely proud to break yet another World Record at Big Game 16. We are entering what will be a huge year for the women’s game and this is a fantastic way to kick that off.

“This has been a whole-club effort and on behalf of everyone at Harlequins I would like to thank the supporters who came out today to be part of this World Record. We look forward to seeing you when we take on Saracens later next month at The Stoop.”
