Lock Glen Young now has further reason to celebrate as he today pens a contract extension with Edinburgh Rugby, having last week been named in the Scotland squad for the upcoming Summer Tests in South America.
The former Jed Forest RFC man – who joined the club from Harlequins last summer – has enjoyed an impressive debut season in the Scottish capital, scoring four tries in 12 appearances.
Young came through the ranks at Riverside Park before kick-starting his professional career with Newcastle Falcons in 2012 as an academy prospect, alongside representing Scotland U20.
He spent three seasons at Kingston Park as a senior player (2016-19) before moving to Harlequins in 2020, where he became a regular starter in the west London club’s middle row.
Young returned north last summer and made his debut against Cardiff Rugby in January after missing the start of the season with a pectoral injury picked up in pre-season.
The lock was named in the Scotland squad during this season’s Six Nations campaign – but didn’t feature – and now has the opportunity to make his international debut in South America.
