Leicester Tigers outside-back George Worth has joined Super Rugby side the Melbourne Rebels on loan for the 2021 season.
After graduating from the Tigers Academy, Worth made his senior debuts for Leicester in the Premiership, European Champions Cup and the successful Anglo-Welsh Cup run during the 2016/17 season.
The Norfolk product gained England Under-20s honours during the 2016 Six Nations.
Capable of playing across the back-line, the 24-year-old has scored 25 points for Tigers including three tries in 62 senior appearances.
Speaking about the loan agreement with Melbourne, Tigers head coach Steve Borthwick said: “This opportunity presents George with a chance to get game time and experience a new style of rugby and culture.”
“With limited opportunities for many players in this season’s Premiership and at only 24, George has played a lot of senior rugby in recent seasons and this is a crucial time in his development.
“We are extremely grateful for the this opportunity for George from Melbourne and are certain he will not only make the most of the opportunity he has been presented with but also represent Leicester Tigers in a professional way.”
Worth is in Australia and will link up with Rebels squad this week after completing the mandatory quarantine period since arriving in the country.
