Gloucester Rugby is delighted to announce the arrival of George McGuigan who has signed a long-term deal with the Cherry & Whites.
The 29-year-old has amassed over 180 caps in the Gallagher Premiership, across both Newcastle Falcons and Leicester Tigers, and was named in England’s training squad in June 2022.
The abrasive front-row forward is credited for his impressive try scoring abilities, which have seen him cross the whitewash seven times this season, including once at Kingsholm. He will join up with the Gloucester squad on Tuesday.
McGuigan will provide immediate cover for Jack Singleton who sustained a serious leg injury during Gloucester’s 34-19 win over Northampton Saints.
Commenting on the announcement, Gloucester Rugby head coach George Skivington said:
“It’s a huge coup for the club that we’ve been able to secure someone of George’s talent.
"While he will provide extra cover in the absence of Jack, he’s with us for the long term, and I’m excited to see the role he can play in helping the club reach its ambitions this season and beyond.”
