World Rugby's hopes of the Nations Championship being approved has hit another snag with the Six Nations reportedly considering another lucrative offer tabled by French Sports Agency Lagardère.
According to the Times, the offer from Lagardère, is another bid which may turn the heads of the European leaders at the very time when World Rugby is hoping to persuade them to throw their European nations in with its own proposal for a global Nations Championship.
The members of World Rugby are set to meet today, Wednesday, to reconsider the Nations Championship proposal. However, the Six Nations unions met a day earlier to discuss their options.
The Six Nations have already received an offer from CVC Capital Partners to buy 30 per cent of the commercial revenue of the Six Nations and all other major competitions in Europe, having already bought stakes in the Premiership.
A different over has been tabled by IMG, one of the top sport agencies in the World, which is world £1.75 billion for the 12 years of the TV rights.
Lagardère's bid has been tabled to rival that of IMG. The Nations Championship is set to benefit each union by £10 million each year.
