Finn Russell dropped from Scotland squad - report

Finn Russell is set to be omitted from the Scotland squad to be named later today (Wednesday).
The 30-year-old flyhalf was rested for Scotland's July test in South America, along with Stuart Hogg, but according to a report by the BBC, he has been dropped for the Autumn Nations Series.
Due to Scotland's first match of the Autumn Nations Series being outside of the international window, Russell will not be available to head coach Gregor Townsend but the report adds that Townsend plans to go into the subsequent matches against Fiji, New Zealand and Argentina without Russell.
Edinburgh's Blair Kinghorn is likely to be handed the number 10 shirt in his absence with Gloucester's Adam Hastings likely to join him in the squad.
Townsend and Russell did have a falling out ahead of the 2020 Six Nations and was dropped from the starting line-up for last season's Six Nations finale against Ireland days after being one of six players to embark on an unauthorised night out at an Edinburgh bar.
The 62 test cap flyhalf is also set to leave Racing 92 at the end of the season with a move to Japan likely.
