Fagerson given 4-week ban

Scotland tighthead prop Zander Fagerson has been handed a 4-week ban for an illegal/dangerous clean-out during Scotland’s game against Wales last weekend.

Fagerson appeared before a disciplinary committee comprising of David Hurley (Ireland), Becky Essex (England) and Steafn Terblanche (South Africa). The committee found that Fagerson’s actions had warranted a red card and, thus, further warranted a mid-range entry point (6 week) ban.

However, the ban was reduced to 4 weeks in light of mitigating circumstances (admission of foul play, good disciplinary record and remorse).

Scotland will thus be without Fagerson for the remainder of the 2021 Six Nations tournament. He was made aware of his right to appeal the committee’s decision.
