Exiles and Pau to do battle at Brentford Community Stadium
- 1620
The penultimate game of the second round sees London Irish taking on French club Pau at Brentford Community Stadium.
Exiles cracked the whip in Round 1, putting Agen away convincingly 34-8 and going top of the standings as well, with their 5-point haul and large points difference.
Pau were also labelled winners following their scrap with Worcester Warriors at Stade du Hameau, celebrating a narrow 24-20 victory.
The Challenge Cup has seen Pau pitted against Exiles several times before, and the latter side have won all but one of them – a fact both teams will be mindful of as they take the pitch.
Pau’s away form in the Challenge Cup has been decidedly sub-par of late with 6 losses from 7 outings.
In the Premiership, Exiles experienced a frustrating start, losing to Worcester by a solitary point before pulling it back in Round 2 with a great 22-9 victory over Leicester. Round 3 saw them come unstuck against Sale, however.
In the Top14, Pau are struggling, with 3 wins from 11 games, earning them 11th spot on the overall standings.
While hardly the clash of the Titans, it will be interesting to see which way this game goes; whether Pau can break the cycle of away losses or whether London Irish will maintain their form from Round 1 and put their rivals to the sword.
