European Champions Cup Preview: Pool 4
- 1222
As we enter into the 2nd half of games in the pool stages three-time champions Toulouse lead the way in pool 4 with Bath and Glasgow Warriors occupying second and third spot, Montpellier complete the group but having failed to pick up a win so far, their chances of making it to the knockout stages are over.
Bath did the double over Montpellier last night in a convincing 32-12 win as they moved above Glasgow into second place in the pool thanks to a late Agulla try which secured a four try bonus point. As for Montpellier their defeat at the Rec ends any hope they had of qualifying for the knockout stages and they can now focus on their league campaign after a poor run of results in the Top 14. Bath have now put themselves back into contention in Pool 4 and will now look to win their final two pool games and qualify for the quarter finals of the competition with the final two pool games taking place in January.
Toulouse continued their dominance in pool 4 making it three wins from three with a 19-11 win with Glasgow losing their first game in the pool after putting in some brilliant performances in wins against Bath and Montpellier. With each point so precious how much will Glasgow rue not picking up a losing bonus point with Duncan Weir missing a conversion late on. Glasgow will now look to get back to winning ways as they welcome Toulouse to Scotstoun. Having won all of their home games this season which included wins against Leinster and Bath they will look to claim another scalp when take on Guy Noves side on Saturday.
