European Champions Cup Preview: Pool 2
- 1991
After four games in the competition pool 2 is the tightest pool out of the five with only a point separating first and third. Harlequins and Leinster are level at the top with 13 points and are closely followed by Wasps with 12 points. Castres complete the group with the French side still looking for their first win in the pool.
Leinster entertain Castres on Saturday at the RDS as they go in search of a win before travelling to the Ricoh Arena next weekend as they look to seal a place in the knockout stages. Leinster will go into the game as firm favourites with Castres going through a rough patch as they sit second bottom in the Top 14 while also suffering heavy defeats to Wasps in round three and four. Leinster will be hoping to pick up a four-try bonus point like they did against the Cardiff Blues last weekend, but they have not been clinical enough in their attack this season but they will hoping to change that on Saturday against a Castres side who have nothing to play for.
The other game in the pool is an all English affair with Wasps travelling to the Stoop to take on Harlequins. Pool leaders Harlequins will be hoping to go one step further in booking their place in the knockout stages with a win on Saturday having already defeating Wasps in the reverse fixture 23-16. However after suffering defeats in the opening two games Wasps have brought themselves back into contention with bonus-point wins over Castres. Quins will go into the game as favourites but Wasps have performed well on the road this season and were unlucky not to defeat Leinster in round 1 after leading 20-8 at the break.
