European Champions Cup Highlights: Leinster Rugby Vs Castres Olympique
- 1636
Leinster ran out 33-15 winners over Castres today at The RDS. The men in blue got on the score sheet early when Sean Cronin took advantage of Leinster's powerful rolling maul to touch down for a try after just 9 minutes of play. Leinster continued to assert their dominance up front as Cronin scored almost a carbon copy of his first try after 28 minutes. Castres were unable to contain Leinster's rolling maul and their powerful scrum as they were penalised time and time again for scrum infringements eventually resulting in a penalty try in the second half. Castres got a penalty try of their own after Luke McGrath was sent to the bin for a cynical side entry when Castres got their maul rolling. Josh van der Flier put in a fantastic performance at 7, he tackled hard and made several breaks displaying his full range of skills ultimately earning him the man of the match award. Another player worth mentioning is Joey Carbery who was making his European rugby debut today. He controlled the game excellently from out-half and looks an incredible prospect for Leinster and Ireland moving forward.
