European Challenge Cup Preview: Pool 4
- 1275
Edinburgh made it three wins from three with a win against London Welsh to remain at the top of pool 4. They are closely followed by Bordeaux Begles who got the better of fellow French side Lyon and remain just a point behind Edinburgh at the halfway stage of the pool.
As expected Edinburgh defeated London Welsh at Murrayfield in a 25-13 but were unable to claim a four try bonus point with London Welsh putting in one of their best performances of the season. London Welsh who are still in search of their first win of the season welcome Edinburgh to The Kassam Stadium on Sunday as they look for their first points in Pool 4. Even with home advantage Edinburgh will be expected to win but will hope to go one better from last week and pick up maximum points.
In the other game in pool 4 Lyon host Bordeaux Begles after we were treated to a thriller of a game last Saturday with Bordeaux edging it 37-29. Having picked up bonus points in all of their three games Bordeaux are looking good for a place in the knockout stages. A win for them in Lyon would further strengthen their chances of qualifying for the knockout stages while a defeat would not be the end of the world with home games against Edinburgh and London Welsh to come. As for Lyon there is still a slim chance of them qualifying for the knockout stages with a win on Friday against Bordeaux a must.
