Leinster flanker Dan Leavy will take no more part in the current season after undergoing knee surgery to repair damaged cartilage.
It is a bitter pill to swallow for the 26 year-old who came back from a knee injury in October – after 18 months on the sidelines – before being laid low by this current misfortune.
“Dan Leavy has had a procedure to repair cartilage in his knee and will be out of action for the rest of the season,” Leinster said.
Leavy was in fine form the last time he turned out in Leinster colours, helping his team to victory over Scarlets in the Pro14.
There is also concern for Caelan Doris who was excluded from Ireland’s opening two Six Nations rounds with symptoms of concussion.
“Caelan returned to Leinster to further investigate those symptoms,” Leinster said in a statement. “Once the investigation is complete and all information is to hand, a further update will be given.”
