Prop Cian Healy has made history and leapfrogged fellow countryman Brian O'Driscoll and became Irelands most capped 6Nations player after making his 66th appearance tonight in the round 2 fixture against Scotland in tonights 2025 edition of the 6Nations.
This sees the prop jump up 2 places from 5th to 3rd in two weeks after surpassing another fellow countryman, former Ireland international and prop Rory Best who boasts 64 appearances in the tournament.
A mainstay of the Irish front row for well over a decade and cornerstone of Ireland’s scrummaging dominance, his blend of power, agility, and versatility made him a formidable opponent.
During the 2024 Autumn Nations Series in Ireland’s last 150th anniversary match versus Australia, Healey stole the spotlight becoming Ireland’s most capped International ever overtaking O’Driscoll (133) to claim his 134th cap.
Italian rugby legend Sergio Parisse currently holds the record for the most 6Nations appearances with 69. However, if Healy plays every game of the 2025 Guinness Men’s Six Nations, he will surpass Parisse.
Here is a list of the most capped players in the tournament.
1. Sergio Parisse – 69 appearances (Italy, 2004–2019)
2. Alun Wyn Jones – 67 appearances (Wales, 2007–2023)
3. Cian Healy - 66 appearances (Ireland, 2010 - Present)
4. Brian O'Driscoll – 65 appearances (Ireland, 2000–2014)
5. Rory Best – 64 appearances (Ireland, 2006–2019)
