Byron Field joins Bath Rugby as Head of Medical and Rehabilitation

Bath Rugby have appointed Byron Field from Super Rugby franchise Brumbies to the role of Head of Medical and Rehabilitation Services.

Byron is responsible for ensuring all players are given the most effective medical care, both when they are fit and when they are returning from injury.

Todd Blackadder, Director of Rugby commented: "Through his expertise, Byron brings a scientific approach towards the prevention, management and rehabilitation of sport injuries. His appointment forms part of our strategy to further develop rigor and evidence-based practices not only around our return to play processes but also our approach to the squad when they are fit and well.

"Byron is a phenomenal character and the exact type of person we see being a part of our progress and our success both on and off the pitch."

Previously Byron led the medical team at the Canberra club after having progressed in recent years to become their Head of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation. Byron brings a wealth of knowledge and experience with him having developed in both medical and sports science driven roles. He's also worked alongside Dean Benton - the current Head of Sports Science at England Rugby.
