- 2529
It's the Glasgow Warriors who are this year's URC champions, after a victory over the Bulls at Loftus Versfeld. After finishing second in the URC and winning 13 out of 18 games, The Bulls are distraught after this 15-21 loss. The Glasgow Warriors' defense was resolute, quelling a late surge by The Bulls to win the URC trophy.
Let's take a look at the player ratings of the home side today.
PLAYER RATINGS
1. Gerhard Steenekamp
Rating: 7/10
He was solid in defence, making 15 tackles, but lost one or two scrum battles.
2. Johan Grobbelaar
Rating: 7.5/10
He made some big hits, carried hard and had a solid performance.
3. Wilco Louw
Rating: 7.5/10
Louw scrummed well tonight and did his job and played for 74 minutes.
4. Ruan Vermaak
Rating: 6.5/10
Vermaak's defence was not on point today and he could not enforce himself as he usually does.
5. Ruan Nortje (C)
Rating: 7/10
The captain was busy as usual, but lacked accuracy. A 75 per cent tackle completion and a few lines-outs missed contributed to this sub-par performance.
6. Marco van Staden
Rating: 8/10
As one of the stand-out performers of The Bulls today, Van Staden scored a great try and was all over the park.
7. Elrich Louw
Rating: 7/10
His high work rate did not go unnoticed and he made some great carries. Unfortunately he did not make his usual presence felt.
8. Cameron Hanekom
Rating: 7.5/10
Before being forced off through injury, Hanekom was having another great game. He made some good steals, but wasn't at his best.
9. Embrose Papier
Rating: 8/10
This man did not put a foot wrong today, although he did not bring his usual flair. He was excellent off the base and his kicks were accurate. A solid performance.
10. Johan Goosen
Rating: 7/10
Not his best game in a Bulls shirt. He was good in the air, but made uncharacteristic errors at key moments of the game.
11. Kurt-Lee Arendse
Rating: 7.5/10
He brought energy to the game, but lacked the killer instinct that he usually possesses.
12. Harold Vorster
Rating: 6.5/10
A quiet game for the big number 12, on the biggest stage.
13. David Kriel
Rating: 7/10
A solid performance from Kriel, but a few too many errors crept into his game today.
14. Sergeal Petersen
Rating: 8/10
Petersen brought massive energy and made positive contributions in the form of turnovers and defensive hits. One of the better players on the day.
15. Devon Williams
Rating: 7.5/10
A few moments of magic, but a few errors as well.
