Bristol Bears had to dig deep over a brave Newcastle Falcons team. Bristol took the full five points to end Newcastle's unbeaten start to league season.
Bristol opened the scoring after just 40 seconds. Newcastle won the kick off and took it up to the 22m, but a good defensive read saw Sheedy intercept and race away into the 22m, before popping to Naulago to score under the posts.
Newcastle had good possession for the next 10 minutes before they opened their scoring through George Wacokecoke, who managed to glide through a gap and go over. Flood missed the extras.
Charles Piutau managed to hold onto a one handed grab to score Bristol's second. Sheedy added the extras.
From that point, Newcastle took control, gaining most of the possession and territory.
Dave Attwood went to the bin after collapsing the maul.
Newcastle managed to get over the line just on halftime, through Mark Wilson.
Bristol lead by just four points at the break.
Bristol started the second half just like the first as Nathan Hughes after a good lineout set piece. Sheedy added the extras.
Philip Van Der Walt managed to score Newcastle's third try, 10 minutes later. Flood finally added extras and Newcastle had some belief.
Newcastle pressed for their fourth, but mistakes started to creep into their game.
That allowed Bristol to score their bonus-point try and add more pressure on Newcastle.
George Kloska scored off the back of a driving maul. Sheedy missed the extras.
Newcastle chased the game and gave away a late penalty, allowing Sheedy to add three points and wrap up the points for the home side.
