Ben Earl: We’re going for another double

Saracens flanker Ben Earl has declared that the Gallagher Premiership leaders are targeting a third EPCR-domestic double as they prepare to return to the Heineken Champions Cup on Saturday.
Top of their domestic competition after just one defeat in 12 games, Sarries enter Round 3 of EPCR’s elite competition at home to Lyon in third place in Pool A, one point behind joint leaders Leinster Rugby and Exeter Chiefs after back-to-back wins.
“We’re fighting on two fronts – this is what we love doing,” Earl said. “We’ve got amazing memories of both competitions as a club and we’ll go for silverware in both.”
They completed the prestigious double in 2016 and 2019, and also lifted the EPCR trophy in 2017, but the England international believes the London club need to be more consistent to complete another double.

“Over the last couple of months, we’ve been a bit up and down if we’re honest, probably since the end of the autumn,” he pointed out.
“We had a tough game at London Irish, but we responded really well at Exeter. It was a different kind of game for us [at Gloucester] – not everything went our way – but we’re really happy to get the win.”
