Recent upheaval at Bath saw Pablo Matera turn down a move to West Country, according to a report by Telegraph Sport.
The report states that Matera was set to be Bath's marquee signing for next season but the back-rower turned down a move due to 'uncertainties surrounding the club’s off-field restructure.'
A Super Rugby winner with the Crusaders, Matera was on the verge of signing for Bath in February but Telegraph Sport states that Matera chose to explore options abroad due to the erratic nature of the club’s former chairman, Ed Griffiths, in contract negotiations.
Matera joined the Crusaders from French Top 14 club Stade Francais and was set to rejoin the club after his stint in New Zealand but has since explored his options.
He is now set to become one of the world’s highest-paid rugby players as he heads to Japan on a contract in excess of £ 1 million a season.
