The All Blacks were again put to the sword by the Springboks for the fourth time in a row, losing 18-12 in Cape Town. The All Blacks did well to isolate Boks in contact, force breakdown penalties. However, South Africa proved to be a step ahead to secure the win. Join us as we look at the All Blacks player ratings down below.

1.    Tamaiti Williams 7.5
The young prop was holding his own in scrum against a dominant Springbok front row. Williams also displayed good positioning in the game, that allowed him to make key passes. He was eventually brought off in the 68th minute.

2.    Codie Taylor 8
Without a doubt one of the Kiwi hookers best games. Great play off the ball saw Taylor make key carries out wide that saw him gain vital ground. His rating is unfortunately dented by the him being subbed off in the 17th minute, but returned after 10 mins when he passed his HUI test.

3.    Tyrel Lomax 6
A good scrum shwoing by the tighthead prop, who was also a workhorse on defense. However a yellow card in the 72nd minute in a game where he could have played the full 80 negatively impacted his rating.

4.    Scott Barrett 7
Captain Scott worked hard on defense, all while strongly contesting the breakdown. Just a few more carries and metres gained would have secured a vintage Scott Barrett peformance.

5.    Tupou Vaa’i 9
Vaa'i had the best lineout showing throughout the game. Not only winning his own, but stealling a few in the process. His ball carrying was definately someting to be lauded as well, gaining vital metres in the process.

6.    Wallace Sititi 9
Perhaps the best birthday gift he could have given himself is a win, but settling for the performance of his life will have to do. Satiti was ever busy at the breakdown, had a major line break, passed the ball well, and finding the perfect off the ball positioning to set up tactical pieces from the breakdown. He really came into his own

7.    Sam Cane 6
The former captain was much busier on the defensive end this week, but still didnt do much with ball in hand.

8.    Ardie Savea (Vice Captain) 6
Not quite the vintage performance from the co-vice captain, but good carrying and strong defense made it a good day at the office.

9.    Cortez Ratima 6
The scrumhalf distributed the ball well doing an efficient job that saw him win a turnover penlaty in the first half.

10.  Damian McKenzie 7.5
Mackenzie is solidifying his position as first choice fly-half with Good arial kicking and and excellent passing. The Chiefs talisman also scored 3/3 penalties first half

11.  Mark Tele’a 5
It was not the best of games for the NZ back three, often finding themselves under pressure from the Springbok high ball. However, good running and beating defenders helped Tele'a prove his worth.

12.  Jordie Barrett (Vice Captain) 8
Many could say this was a game of vengance for the Barret, as he made key moment tackle on Piter-Steph du-Toit in 23rd minute, preventing a possible try, and later running over Siya Kolisi in the second half. His attack was also on form, finding mismatches in the midfield.

13.  Rieko Ioane 5
Quite the quiet game for the centre who was Subbed off in the 72nd minute to make way for Newell due to Lomax yellow card.

14.  Sevu Reece 4
An early Yellow card 16th minute only reduced what would have been an average rating for the right winger.

15.  Will Jordan 5
Playing out of his normal comfort zone on the wing, Jordan seemed to be adjusting well at 15 in test rugby, but it was a fairly quiet game for the speedster.

16. Asafo Aumua 5
The replacement hooker was brought on in the 17th minunte as a possible injury replacement for Cody Taylor and was brought off again in the 27th minute. he did well winning the lineouts and scrums he was involved in.

17. Ofa Tu’ungafasi 6
The prop was brought on in the 68th minute to replace Tamaiti Williams, and displayed good strength in the scrum and great defence under the constant Springbok pressure.

18. Fletcher Newell 5
Was brought in 75th minute in place of Ioane to allow for scrum contests. Although not on for long, the prop played his role, winning a vital scrum.

Did not Play

20. Luke Jacobson 5
Came on and displayed strong defence, strong ball carrying.

21. TJ Perenara 6
On in the 50th minute, TJ was not immediately as explosive as he was last week,but did increse the tempo and momentum of the game

22. Anton Lienert-Brown 5
Good carrying and passing from the sub who came off the bench, was constantly threatening the Springbok defence, although not on for long.

23. Beauden Barrett 5
Also not as explosively impactful as the previous game, the speedster did cause a few problems for the Springboks, but none the they seemingly could not handle.
